Experience a wild dolphin encounter in the beautiful waters of Key West...

Since 1986, we have been taking people out to observe and learn about wild bottlenose dolphins.  We are the original Key West Dolphin Watch® and have been bringing people and dolphins together for over 22 years. Join us as we commune with these fascinating and intelligent mammals,go snorkeling and swimming in their diverse natural habitat, and learn about the beautiful world in which they live and thrive. Here is what people say:

Hello! We took the dolphin watch on the afternoon of March 7 and I couldn't wait to write you when we got home.  It truly was the highlight of our trip to Key West and John made all that possible.  He took our group of eager dolphin enthusiasts way out in order to find so many wonderful dolphins....the babies were just adorable!  :)  Everything was perfect from the boat, the educational information that John gave, the music.....even the strawberries!  Thank you so much for making a dream of mine come true.  I will never forget our experience and would definitely go back with Dolphin Watch in a heartbeat.  I am glad that I did my research online from home.  I know that I chose the best!      Keep up the wonderful job! Terri and Dave Hancock

Dolphin Watch's Story

In 1986, Capt. Ron Canning began having encounters with wild dolphins off the coast of Key West on a beautiful white sand bank which we now call the 'Dolphin Bank'.  Through years of showing them patience and respect he and his crew were able to establish a trusting relationship with a pod of wild dolphins. People from all over the world have now come to visit this unique and magical place.

The main areas where we visit the dolphins are gorgeous white sand banks only 10 to 15 feet deep. In good weather the water is as clear as a swimming pool and we delight in seeing all sorts of other marine life such as sea turtles, spotted eagle rays, manatees, spiny urchins, sea sponges and giant starfish. Our surrounding coastal waters are a perfect place for the dolphins to rest, feed, play, and raise their young.  Because they are coastal bottlenose dolphins they do not migrate and are here all year around.
